What are clear aligners?
Clear aligners are removable, nearly-invisible trays that move your teeth into a better position over time. You wear each set for about 22 hours a day, then move on to the next. Most patients see visible changes within a few months. Treatment plans are personal — some are done in six months, others take a year or more.
At Magnolia Smiles, our primary aligner system is CandidPro, and we also offer Invisalign for patients who prefer it. This page will help you understand both, so you can make a decision that fits your case, your budget, and your goals.
Our primary aligner system
Why we chose CandidPro.
We looked at the clear aligner landscape carefully. CandidPro stood out for how it’s supported — measured planning, fewer surprises, and treatment backed by a licensed orthodontist from start to finish. Here’s what that means for you.
90% finish with one or fewer refinements
A refinement is a second round of aligners to fine-tune your result. CandidPro’s protocols are designed so most patients don’t need one.
A US-based licensed orthodontist reviews every plan
Dr. Finnegan directs your care in the office. A licensed orthodontist backs him up on the plan. You get both.
Fewer attachments. Less shaping between teeth.
CandidPro’s protocols are built to minimize both attachments and IPR — better cosmetics during treatment, less enamel modified for good.
FDA-cleared remote check-ins
The ProMonitoring™ app lets you send scans from home every 7 to 14 days. Fewer trips to the office. More eyes on your progress.
Straight talk
An honest comparison — CandidPro and Invisalign.
Both are FDA-cleared aligner systems. Both work. They differ in how they’re supported, monitored, and delivered — and those differences can make one a better fit than the other for your case. We offer both. Here’s how they compare.

The right choice depends on your case, your goals, and how you want your treatment supported. If Invisalign is the better fit for you, we’ll say so. Read more about our Invisalign option or bring your questions to a consult — we’ll help you decide.
Candidacy
Is CandidPro right for you?
CandidPro treats a wide range of cases from mild to complex. During your consult, Dr. Finnegan will look at your bite, your gum health, and your goals — then tell you honestly whether aligners are the right tool.
Cases that often fit CandidPro:
- Crowding — teeth pushed together with no room
- Spacing — gaps between teeth
- Crossbite — upper teeth sitting behind the lower
- Protrusion — front teeth angled forward
- Narrow arch
- Edge-to-edge bite — front teeth meeting instead of overlapping
- Pre-restorative cases — small tooth movements before a crown or bridge
- Mild-to-complex Class I, II, and III cases
When aligners aren’t the answer
Aligners are not right for every case. Severe skeletal issues, active gum disease, and complex bite problems can sometimes be handled better by an orthodontist or through a different approach. If that’s what we see, we’ll tell you — and refer you to the right specialist. Straight talk works both ways.

The Magnolia difference
Why patients choose Magnolia for aligner care.
Aligner treatment is a months-long relationship. You want a team that pays attention, explains clearly, and doesn’t rush you. That’s the whole point of Magnolia Smiles.
Dr. Finnegan practices whole-patient care. That means when he looks at your smile, he’s also thinking about your bite, your gum health, and how everything works together. If a broader evaluation makes sense — for example, if your case ties into sleep or breathing concerns — we’ll walk you through our sleep and airway dentistry as a separate conversation.
Aligner planning at Magnolia isn’t just about which teeth move where. It’s about making a plan that supports your long-term health — and one you actually understand before you say yes. You’ll leave your consult with clear options, honest costs, and no pressure to decide on the spot.

Good to know
Clear aligner questions.
How is CandidPro different from Invisalign?
Both are FDA-cleared aligner systems that work by moving teeth with a series of removable trays. The main differences are how they’re supported and monitored. CandidPro includes a US-based licensed orthodontist review of every comprehensive case and FDA-cleared remote monitoring through the ProMonitoring™ app. Its protocols are designed to minimize attachments and enamel shaping, and 90% of cases finish with one or fewer refinements. Invisalign is provider-directed, offers more product tiers for different case sizes, and uses its own SmartTrack material and Vivera retainers. Both work well. The right choice depends on your case.
How much do clear aligners cost at Magnolia Smiles?
CandidPro cases at Magnolia Smiles typically range from $3,900 to $5,900, depending on case complexity, the number of aligners, and whether refinements are included. Magnolia Membership members save 15%. We offer CareCredit and Sunbit financing with 0% introductory plans for qualifying patients, and we accept HSA and FSA funds. Your consult produces a specific estimate for your case, in writing, before treatment starts.
How long does clear aligner treatment take?
Mild cases finish in a few months. More involved cases can take a year or more. Timeline depends on how far your teeth need to move, how consistently you wear the aligners (about 22 hours a day is the target), and your response to treatment. Dr. Finnegan will give you an expected timeline at your consult, and you’ll see a projected result before you start.
Is CandidPro right for me?
CandidPro treats a wide range of cases — crowding, spacing, crossbite, protrusion, narrow arch, edge-to-edge bite, and mild-to-complex Class I, II, and III cases. It’s a strong fit for adults and teens with permanent teeth. Cases involving severe skeletal issues, active gum disease, or very complex movements are sometimes better handled by an orthodontist. We’ll be honest with you at your consult about whether aligners are the right tool.
Do I still need to come into the office?
Yes — but less often than traditional aligner treatment. You’ll start with an in-person consult, records visit, and first fitting. Between fittings, you send scans from home every 7 to 14 days through the ProMonitoring™ app. If we spot something that needs an in-person look, we bring you in. Otherwise, most of your check-ins are remote.
What is the ProMonitoring™ app?
ProMonitoring™ is CandidPro’s FDA-cleared remote monitoring app. You use an included ScanBox Pro to capture photos of your teeth, submit them through the app, and our team reviews them. You’ll get a notification when it’s time to move to your next aligner. It’s how you spend less time driving to the office and more time on treatment progress.
What happens after treatment? Do I need retainers?
Yes. Teeth naturally want to drift, and retainers keep your new smile in place. CandidPro uses PermaForm retainers, which we fit after your final aligner. We check the fit at your regular hygiene visits and catch any small shifts early.
Can I finance CandidPro treatment?
Yes. We offer CareCredit and Sunbit, both of which have 0% introductory plans for qualifying patients. Many patients pay for CandidPro treatment with monthly payments rather than a lump sum. HSA and FSA funds also qualify. We’ll walk you through the options at your consult.
Does insurance cover clear aligners at Magnolia?
Some dental insurance plans include an orthodontic benefit that applies to clear aligners, sometimes as a one-time lifetime maximum. We’ll check your coverage before treatment starts and apply what applies. If you don’t have orthodontic coverage, our Magnolia Membership plan gives you a 15% discount on CandidPro treatment.
What material are CandidPro aligners made of?
CandidPro aligners are made from ZenduraFLX, a BPA-free medical-grade plastic. It’s designed to grasp the teeth firmly through each stage of movement while staying comfortable during wear.
What should I bring to my consult?
Just yourself and any questions. If you have prior x-rays, records from another dentist, or notes from a sleep or airway evaluation, feel free to bring those. If you don’t, we’ll take everything we need in the office.
